Augusto Pirodda

Italian pianist Augusto Pirodda (Cagliari, Italy - 1971) accomplished his first musical steps towards the end of the 80s.
He moved to the Netherlands in 1998 to study at the Royal Conservatory; he thereafter moved to Brussels (Belgium) where he presently lives.

Augusto has collaborated with many musicians from the European and worldwide jazz scene, but a special mention goes to his collaboration with Gary Peacock and Paul Motian. With them Augusto recorded the trio album “No Comment” at Systems Two Studios in Brooklyn. The record was released by the German label Jazz Werkstatt.

Another important project for Augusto's artistic development is the collaboration with the Dutch Artist/Choreographer/Performer Neel de Jong. With her he performed at the Fringe Festival in Edinborough (U.K.) and Dublin (Ireland) - and at other venues in France, Montenegro, Germany, Holland.

Among the various projects that characterize his musical activity (solo, duo, trio, quartet, septet) the solo piano (to which he began dedicating himself in 2007) is certainly to be considered the starting point of his musical expression. Pirodda's approach to tackling piano solo comes largely from his years working with Neel de Jong. The constant search for freedom of expression through the language of sounds, with a resulting aesthetic which is more of a point of arrival than a concept prior to the music itself. This type of approach is reflected in all of his projects.
